Synth pads and grooving hi-hat introduce a bold kick. Evolves by the book into an early house classic with 808 snares and claps. At 1:48 muted synth chords start stabbing the air, gradually building tension until dropping into a tight groove. Reminiscent of the music to “Good life” by Inner City, with better production. Happy intro with solo violin riffs and evolving arpeggios, quickly form a firm driving groove with a strong roving bass line. Mood is neutral but chilled, then after a few breakdowns at 3:07 it reduces to a stomping 4-to-the-floor cut down beat before the rest of the elements crash back in. The track teases you by rising and falling, not ever quite kicking in but building deliciously with percussion and synth pads, keeping you on tenderhooks thoughout. Crisp summery house beats with tasteful conga and a bassline that is just falling over itself. Soft rhodes and tinkling percussion create a lush atmosphere, reminds me of a dreamy beach party in Ibiza. Alone – Blissfully dancing on your own maybe? Quirky instrumental. Dramatic opening, sustained keys and brass, sounds like the electronic rainbow blasts of Animal Collective. Gives way to a meandering jazz saxophone joined by a brass blast then an unexpected quirky percussive section with piano and a big build, all instruments in, like the finale of a stadium rock concert. Sparse breathy saxophone section before another epic blast of noise. Solo sax then all instruments in, strings, drums, percussion, vocals and brass with drum crashes and wallops before a peaceful end. Bombastic and epic with slow, thoughtful sections, a fun mix of styles and moods, would suit a silly Film/TV scene humorous advert for a bonkers product.
Solo piano. Jazz chords straight out of a classic movie scene set in a smoky cavernous jazz club. Slow chordal movement at first, sweet and lyrical, moves to a confused romantic motif with some dissonance, chords grow in volume and intensity, a declaration of love. Back to the introductory chords, more relaxed now with hints of unsettling dissonance. Romantic, confused and reckless, a love letter to early jazz, on Film/TV, would suit a La La Land style, modern interpretation of heady jazz-age love.
Ambient, minimal piano, slightly stilted, is joined by gentle but clear acoustic guitar, creating feelings of tension and release. Builds with light percussion and minimal kick drum to a tense crescendo. Relief in the second half, with an open and “breathable” ending. Serious but also hopeful, and ultimately serene.
