Mysterious multi-instrumental. Atmospheric feedback intro followed by oom-pah-pah waltz rhythm and childish marimba melody. Orchestral strings and accordion join with a Gallic-inspired melody, reminiscent of Amélie. The melancholy gives way to excitable, erratic rhythms on all instruments, before a dynamic final section with passionate violin and jumpy marimba. Magical, melancholy and manic, perfect music to accompany a rainy midnight walk through the streets of Paris, only to end up in a sleazy speakeasy at the centre of an absinthe-sodden freakshow.

The Time and Place (Clarinet)

Contemplative, meditative and soothing, ambient and contemporary, with a spiritual feel, track to suit an experimental visual for quiet, reflective documentaries or films.
Opening
Orchestral soundscape. High register sustained strings, rhythmic piano motifs and bass drones create a lush, mysterious soundscape. Jerky, stop-start moments and dark harmonies create slight unease until the chords resolve again. Reflective, heartfelt and troubled, quietly powerful soundtrack music to suit a desolate landscape or a thought-provoking visual.
Mumuration
Melodic orchestral string and drum build. Choppy orchestral strings play a bright melodic motif. Syncopated beats join, growing in volume and complexity. Break before lively orchestral strings and anticipatory beats kick off again. Builds to a summery climax. Heartbroken
Epic orchestral string track with piano and woodwind. Languid orchestral string intro, joined by pastoral woodwind. Woodwind motifs mimicked by the string parts. Extra piano joins, taking a melancholy tone, strings build to match the dramatic melody. Woodwind returns for the final wind down. Melancholy yet dramatic and lively, cinematic with lots of movement, would suit a long, powerful Film/TV scene of strong emotional resonance or an over-the-top advert.

Becomes more dramatic and hopeful, literally ending on a high note. Melodramatic, wistful and nostalgic, like Bach’s ‘Air on the G String’ crossed with a less eerie Twin Peaks theme tune, would suit a heartfelt TV/Film moment or advert playing on saccharine retro melodrama.
