Dooms and Chills

Mysterious and saturnine, with filling bassy drones and evoking swarms of synths that create a sense of uneasiness and dark anticipation. Steady until 2:50, it then builds up to a more loaded setting at 4:00, and then delivers different thrilling flavours shifting every couple of minutes. Great for thrillers, horrors and psychological settings.

Bowed Softness

Dark, highly atmospheric and gently driving and urgent. Brushed strings, soft beats and droning bass synths create a powerful ambient atmosphere. Constantly moving and pushing through in a place of darkness, the tension gradually starts resolving to an uneasy sense of hope.

Into the Cage

Unsettling and dissonant, with an interesting low-fi accent and a set of disquieting piano chords that establish a loaded texture full of pollution and grittiness. Will suit quirky characters slowly drifting into madness, post-apocalyptic settings, dark underwater animations.

Tears from the Moon

Dark and emotional, vivid orchestral strings and introspective electronic drums establish a steady progression where the psychological stakes are high. A violin breaks the tension with a positive opening at 1:00. Piano inserts help to resume in intensity and move to a somewhat grand finale, with harp, flute and violin. Will suite sad and melancholic yet decision-driven sequences, where an action must be taken soon to solve the situation.

Sad But Hopeful

Emotional piano-led track. Sparse piano intro, joined by melancholy orchestral strings. String swell, subtle drums and a rhythmic piano motif, growing in confidence and strength. Slowly building, dialogue between strings and piano. Effects-laden piano gives a cold electronic edge. Reflective, yearning and questioning, would suit a TV/Doc sequence of high emotional intensity or a pensive moment on film.

Raggy Piano

Sparse tragic solo piano, desolate, empty, sad and grief stricken, with a hint of the Middle East. If you were going to have a soundtrack to the devastation and carnage left behind by war, this would be it.

Oubliette (Suite)

Gentle pensive piano track. Slow repeated piano motif, extra piano line added and subtly building orchestral strings. Thoughtful and reflective, sad yet hopeful, would suit an advert for insurance or healthcare, hope of a bright future in the face of today’s sadness and loss.

Piano Only version available.

Music for an Underground Circus

The sound of a half-forgotten carnival, for harmoniums, toy piano and strings. Slow, steady, expressive and sad. Dramatic and slightly unwell.

Making Jack a Dull Boy

Dark atmospheric piano elements with tambourine and other percussion. Grooving and dissonant, building with tense octave notes. Sounds like: Tom Waits’ soundtrack to Down By Law.
