Pagume

African jazz instrumental. Snaking double bass intro, joined by jazz drums, vibraphone, electric guitar and keyboard playing a rhythmic motif. Change of rhythm, horn blasts then saxophone melody, subtle African-jazz style, effects-heavy electric guitar solo, brass noise before vibraphone motif returns and all play until the finish. Intriguing, exotic and sensual, with hints of Mulatu Astatke and a little Fela Kuti influence, would suit a travel documentary or Film/TV scene evoking the spirit of a hot night in urban 1970s Africa.

That’s for Eating With

Quirky instrumental. Dramatic opening, sustained keys and brass, sounds like the electronic rainbow blasts of Animal Collective. Gives way to a meandering jazz saxophone joined by a brass blast then an unexpected quirky percussive section with piano and a big build, all instruments in, like the finale of a stadium rock concert. Sparse breathy saxophone section before another epic blast of noise. Solo sax then all instruments in, strings, drums, percussion, vocals and brass with drum crashes and wallops before a peaceful end. Bombastic and epic with slow, thoughtful sections, a fun mix of styles and moods, would suit a silly Film/TV scene humorous advert for a bonkers product.

KMH Part 1

Minimal piano track. Polyrhythmic piano lines interweave creating a continuous, flowing waterfall effect. Sweet yet dissonant, atmospheric and turbulent. A dreamlike cacophony in the mid-section, before an expressive, virtuosic, yet disturbed, finish. Suited to an unsettling Film/TV scene, a psychological horror reflecting the characters tumultuous experiences.

Letter to Val

Solo slide guitar track. Slow, expressive acoustic guitar in an improvised style. Free rhythm with a plodding feel, melodies emerging from the swampy atmosphere. Moved to higher register slides for a finish. Chilled, calm and nostalgic, a retro American-style blues track with heart and soul, perfect for factual documentaries, nature programmes or peaceful adverts.

Theme Ambient 71

Slow-moving electronic track. White noise, ambient drones and high-pitched tones create an immersive sound world. Percussive, rhythmic electronics take over, punctuating a soft synth wash. Mysterious, enveloping and atmospheric, hopeful electronic background music, perfect for downbeat or low-key Documentary/Film/TV scenes.

Nakasila

Rhythmic track made with sounds from the human body. Clapping, breathing and playful vocals interspersed with a repetitive acoustic guitar motif and synth bass line, adding depth and sweetness. Light and airy, percussive and cyclical, suitable for a dreamy onscreen interlude.
