Eivissa

Laid back lounge track. Shimmering synths, horns samples, shuffling drums and a breezy acoustic guitar riff. Vibraphone adds a touch of jazz and a tinkling brightness. Balearic vibes, sunshine and sparkling turquoise waters. Cool, easy-going and calming. Perfect background music for a holiday advert: sipping on a refreshing cocktail, watching the burning orange sunset in a dream destination. Or suitable as relaxing background music for factual TV.

Fool’s Paradise

Chilled bleepy electronic slow jam. Underwater synth chords joined by drums and bongo samples. Flute-like synth samples flit overhead, adding a tropical colour. 90s hip hop drums and a bassy synth line add depth. After a drum break with flute samples, the silvery synth returns. Cool, mysterious and a little bit playful, perfect for ads for a fresh new product or a trippy, surreal or exotic film/TV sequence.

Between Time, Over A Secret Root

Sparse piano solo. Fragmented piano phrases, plaintive harmonies emerge from the piano counterpoint. Slow and widely spaced snatches of melody. Contemplative, strange and questioning, a curious piano piece, would work well in contrast to a calamitous drama onscreen, or an equally reflective and thoughtful TV/Film/Doc scene.

2009 AD

Electronic trip hop instrumental track. Water sounds, electronic lasers, organ-like drone snatches. Naive riff on cutesy synth turns is joined by trip hop beats, shuffling drums and synthesised string interludes. Fleeting sitar samples and scratchy electronics punctuate the beat. Electronic/drone break before the riff and frantic electronics, like vinyl-scratching, rejoin until the end. Cool, laid-back and urban, a throwback to the baggy trouser days of the 90s, with a hint of Morcheeba. Would suit adverts for clothing or lifestyle products, or as background music for an urban drama or documentary.

Underworld

Smooth electronica. Cold synth chords with heavy delay, bubbling bass synth notes, 90s trip hop-style drums, glitchy beats, fuzzy electronics and icy synths. Steady groove throughout. New section to finish: effects-laden piano and spacey synths take over. Fade out. Laid-back, cool, calm and detached, perfect for a TV Documentary in a clinical setting…Nurses on Call, Daredevil Doctors, or a smooth corporate video.

The Light (Suite)

A gentle atmospheric electronic track. Bassy opening, joined by warm melodic sequence on synth. Deeper synth sounds and added beats build up the track. Chilled and gently-shifting, this Drive-style track is perfect for a moody TV/Film sequence, neon lights at night, like shooting stars as our character drives by. There is hope somewhere out there in the starry sky, or maybe in the brightly lit city.

Vocal version features smooth and soulful male vocals.

Resting Tree

Gentle, emotional piano track. Jazzy piano chords and a hint of Gymnopédie no.1. The melodic change brings a more American flavour to this simple, thoughtful and hopeful solo piano piece. Warm, rich and wistful, perfect for an advert for a product that will help you to care for your family or bring a sense of warmth and security. Or for TV/film sequences set in a refined and leafy corner of the U.S.

Montage

A sad short piece. Pensive harp is joined by pizzicato strings, then by soft flute and horn to end on an unhappy note. These instruments would normally be perfect for a jolly cartoon piece, but not today, today the cartoon is sick, and the others look on in fretful concern. They wish for a time when things were better.

Forêt de Broceliande

Sad solo flute. That’s it. And you don’t need anything more, perfect for a lament over the hills of war casualties, shredded flags rustle in a somber wind. And in her chamber, lady Guinevere brushes her hair as she softly sings to the ghosts of her fallen loved ones.

The Sounding Joy

An upbeat acoustic version of ‘Joy to the World’. Starts with layered vocal ‘ooohs’ accompanied by ukelele, drums, bass guitar and hand claps. This reduces to percussive rhythm on ukelele and drums with vocals. ‘Ooohs’ re-enter after the chorus with some bright ukelele chords. The verse again accompanied by percussion only. At the final chorus, all instruments enter for a rousing, joyous ending. Fun, warm, happy and hopeful. A heartwarming, modern update of a classic Christmas song, this would be great in a modern Christmas film or tv special. Subtly seasonal.
