Wild Horses

Uplifting acoustic guitar instrumental. Fast-paced strummed acoustic guitar riff. Drums and additional guitar lines added, sounding like light humming, building a sense of anticipation and joy. Hand claps, bass guitar and extra percussion add depth. Ends of quietly triumphant cymbal crash. Happy, carefree and optimistic, clothes hanging out to dry on a fresh summer’s day, a yappy dog frolicking in the grass, suitable for an easy-going, hopeful montage on TV/Film, or on an advert for a friendly kids product or service.

ATA

Hard hitting commercial hip hop, 30 seconds of intensity featuring searing lead synth lines, atmospheric vocals and low bouncing beats. Perfect for an advert about, I dunno, something electronic, something new and innovative but street? It’s glitchy, crunchy, edgy, urban, somehow european.

AP Action Live 60 secs

Amazing orchestral production in a frenetic desperate chase. It feels like something massive and cataclysmic is bearing down at you, there was no time to warn anyone or gather anything, the only thing to do was RUN. Is it a monster? Is it a natural disaster? Is it an army? Full orchestra climaxes with a doom laden soft bellow of horns.

I Mean

A contemporary emotional pop track. Intro of synth, chords and vocals. Hand claps and rich synth notes, joined by orchestral strings, build anticipation for the chorus drop. A bright chorus of falsetto male vocals and R’n’B beats gives way to a beat and synth driven second verse. 80s dreamy synth effects accompany the next chorus and continue into the break, joined by orchestral string and vocal samples. Vocal variations, strings and added synth and drum parts lead to a final emotional chorus. Heartfelt, loving, hopeful, young and fresh, would suit an ad campaign for a cool new product or service with emotional resonance, or a film moment where our character breaks free and finds new hope.

The Sounding Joy

An upbeat acoustic version of ‘Joy to the World’. Starts with layered vocal ‘ooohs’ accompanied by ukelele, drums, bass guitar and hand claps. This reduces to percussive rhythm on ukelele and drums with vocals. ‘Ooohs’ re-enter after the chorus with some bright ukelele chords. The verse again accompanied by percussion only. At the final chorus, all instruments enter for a rousing, joyous ending. Fun, warm, happy and hopeful. A heartwarming, modern update of a classic Christmas song, this would be great in a modern Christmas film or tv special. Subtly seasonal.

Happy Blocks (Suite)

A cheerful cat-and-mouse game featuring orchestral violins and marimba. Pizzicato violins start with a jaunty melodic idea, soon accompanied by rousing timpani. The violins’ melodic sequence moves to a higher register and playful marimba dances around the melody. Marimba develops into a counter melody before the track ends with a bang. Playful, mysterious, fun and light-hearted, it would suit a comedic interlude on a tv documentary, reality TV shows featuring family members or pets up to mischief, or an ad for something unreasonably desirable that the listener would go to humorous lengths to acquire.

Chaotic version features more marimba action.

For Sudan (Happy End)

A stirring, rousing, emotional piano and orchestral violin track. Repetitive piano, decisive staccato violins, single piano notes, long orchestral violin notes, a simple piano melody interlaced with the broken piano chords. Sustained violins grow in intensity, with the choppy violins, accompanying and augmenting the hopeful piano melody. Comes to a quiet end on single piano notes. Hopeful, positive, warm and anticipatory, with a sense of relief, this track feels like the end of something troubling and the start of something better. It would suit ads that promise a bright future, or a TV/Film moment of a life-affirming conclusion. Hope for tomorrow.

Bipolar

Made up of three contrasting sections. First, a futuristic pastoral soundscape with a pan-pipe-like tribal-sounding repeated synth note calling out across the landscape. Then blobby liquid percussion, piano, glitchy electronics and drums interplay until they launch into a drum ‘n’ bass section. Birdsong and a return to nature follow, with forest sounds and a repeated electronic pulse. Next section seeps in with blissful major chords, dreamy glittering electronic fx, soulful beats and dubby bass. A spoken word sample situates us in hip-hop/jazz territory. The voice repeats “walk on, walk tall”, as sparkling synth gives way to birdsong and water. At times, tense, tribal and spiritual, moving to chilled, soulful and inspired, this would suit before/after adverts for a product meant to inspire, slow you down and change your life for the better.

TRIMNYO

A dance track mixing African- and Caribbean-influenced urban British styles. Dancehall-like drums & vocal samples give way to silvery synths and MC-style vocals, growing in rhythmic intensity with snare, synth and vocal samples. A heavily processed female helium vocal sample is introduced over trance-style synth and erratic beats, heavy synths intensifying until an abrupt ending. Dancey, urban, dark and complex. Walking through the city late at night, neon signs glowing, street lights, dodgy characters all around but our protagonist owns the streets.

Adventures In Flying

The bombastic blast of a military marching band. Brash horn blasts and pounding drums move to playful percussive sound effects, before rumbling timpani, ascending horn lines and rat-a-tat snare take us to the victorious high note. Bold, stirring and recklessly patriotic. Suitable for retro army spoofs, light-hearted battle sequences and TV adverts featuring a battle against germs and stubborn stains.
